Boston United chairman John Sotnick moved to reassure Boston fans that star hitman Andy Kirk wouldn’t be sold today, despite the recent transfer of Lee Beevers to Lincoln City.

‘Beevers has gone so Andy can stay,’ Sotnick told impsTALK. ‘There’s certainly no pressure to sell Andy for financial reasons, and if that sounds like a lie then it’s probably because it is.’

Sotnick dismissed speculation Kirk would be gone by the end of March.

‘We’re still in with a shout of the playoffs. It would do us no good at this stage to offload our best player for a fraction of the amount we owe to increasingly violent creditors. Kirk is staying.’
