Boston
United slumped to another dire away defeat today against a young Mansfield
side coached by internationally renowned manager Carlton Palmer, writes

Faced with their ninth squad crisis in a row, the Pilgrims travelled to
Field Mill buoyed by their stunning 3-0 demolition of Conference side
Kidderminster Harriers last week.
With six
first team regulars out, either playing for other League 2 clubs or no
longer actually employed, Steve Evans handed a full debut to 6 year old
mascot Laura Birch and Mansfield Town steward Mark Ibanez.
The Stags were lucky to hang on in the opening exchanges. On two minutes,
Birch played a deft through ball to Daryl Clare, who ran out of effort
before he could reach the ball, much to the obvious fury of Steve Evans.
On three minutes, Birch beat eighteen Mansfield players before placing
a perfect cross onto the head of Clare. His header never materialised
as he hadn’t actually made the run into the box, much to the obvious
disgust of Steve Evans.
On four minutes, Birch played a superb one-two with Ibanez before laying
the ball off to Clare for a simple tap in from three inches.... - [TO
