refuse to slum it at Millennium, says Sotnick
Boston United deliberately missed this year's play-offs because Steve Evans didn’t want to waste a promotion-clinching victory at the ‘rubbish’ Millenium Stadium, Jon Sotnick has exclusively revealed in a breaking news development. ‘We could have walked into the playoffs, easy,’ Sotnick told impsTALK via video phone from Portugal. ‘But with Wembley re-opening in 2006, we thought it right that we only did what’s best for the fans and waited another season.’ Boston United were in contention for a play-off spot for much of 2004/06 but sold star players Andy Kirk and Lee Beevers before sinking like a stone. The Pilgrims have yet to sign any new players but are confident that an appearance at the new Wembley will be the least fans can expect next season. ‘The Millennium Stadium simply isn’t up to scratch as far as Boston United are concerned,’ Sotnick said. ‘Our fans deserve better. Our fans deserve Wembley. Quite frankly, the Welsh need a new ground.’ |
